“After completing my degree in History, I soon began law school at Texas A&M University. In law school, I have been able to apply and build on the research, writing, and analytical skills I developed while studying history. My background in history and understanding of historiography have given me a particular appreciation for how certain laws came to be, their development over time, and the people who make them a reality. The support and guidance of my professors in the University of Houston History Department, especially Professor Catherine Patterson and Professor Sarah Fishman, made it possible for me to accomplish my goals and to take my education in history into the field of law.”
Ava Galluzzi (BA ’24) won a Murray Miller Undergraduate Scholarship and an Outstanding Achievement in History Certificate while majoring in History at UH. She went on to Texas A&M University on a full-tuition Dean’s Scholarship to study law. In 2025 and 2026, Ava was a Summer Associate at the law firm Vinson & Elkins; she also studied international finance law on a study abroad program in the Channel Islands. She is on the Texas A&M Journal of Property Law as a Staffer and will be on the Executive Board next year as Associate Managing Editor.
