The Division of Student Affairs is pleased to announce that Mrs. Cicely Williams has joined the University of Houston as the new assistant dean of students in the Student Outreach and Support (SOS) area of the Dean of Students Office (DOS). Cicely Williams is a graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (Geaux Ragin’ Cajuns!), where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts with a concentration in Psychology. She also holds a dual Master of Arts in School and Community Counseling from Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA.
Cicely joins the University of Houston from Lone Star College, where she served as manager of accessibility services and resources since 2021. Throughout her career in higher education, she has held a variety of roles in Counseling and Wellness, Academic Advising, Student Services, Title IX, and Disability Services, supporting both students and employees. In addition, she is a Licensed Professional Counselor and has nearly 19 years of experience in the behavioral health field.
In her new role, Cicely will focus on supporting the UH student community utilizing non-clinical case management to coordinate interventions, advocate for students, and connect them with campus and community resources to remove barriers to academic and personal success. She will also play a vital role on the UH Care Team, assisting with managing elevated student risk.

Returning to my roots in student affairs feels like coming home, and I am honored to begin this new chapter as an assistant dean in the Dean of Students Office at UH. I am thrilled to join the Coog family and contribute to our mission of transforming lives and communities through education, research, service, and innovation,” Williams said.

Her varied professional practice of serving students from different walks of life and understanding the complex ends and outs of student success make her an ideal fit for the UH campus community. I look forward to witnessing the work she and the SOS team will produce going forward,” said Associate Dean of Students, Dr. Jerrell Sherman.
