In July, Facilities/Construction Management celebrated one of its newest teams: Facilities Operations for Student Success (FOSS). The team, which launched in September 2025, is housed within Facilities Services. FOSS is dedicated to supporting students’ residential experience at the University of Houston.
“I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together and excited about FOSS’s continued growth, advancements, and impact in the years ahead,” said Dana Wimer, director of FOSS.
Facilities/Construction Management (F/CM) hosted a barbecue lunch at Moody Towers in honor of FOSS’s renovated offices. Many representatives from across F/CM, Administration & Finance (A&F), and Student Housing & Residential Life (SHRL) gathered to celebrate. During the event, attendees also had the opportunity to tour the newly refurbished FOSS offices in the basement of Moody Towers. Excitement and team pride were clear themes, spanning the event’s start to finish.
“Lunch was really great. The team did such a nice job organizing and hosting,” said Don Yackley, assistant vice president of SHRL.
UH leaders present included Paul Kittle, Student Affairs vice chancellor/vice president , Raymond Bartlett, senior vice chancellor/vice president of A&F, and David Oliver, senior associate vice chancellor/vice president of F/CM. They were joined by representatives from Facilities Services, FOSS and FIXIT. FIXIT’s team members supporting SHRL include Darryl Jones, customer relations manager, and Amber Butler, customer liaison.
“The debut of FOSS marked an important milestone for Facilities Services and reflected the dedication, professionalism, and teamwork of everyone involved,” said Ahmad Shareef, assistant vice president of Facilities Services.
“The BBQ celebration was a meaningful opportunity to recognize our team's commitment to our purpose of Building Futures, Maintaining Excellence and celebrate the culture of collaboration with our Student Housing partners that will continue to strengthen our service to the University of Houston.”
