Facilities/Construction Management (F/CM) recently unveiled a new fueling station, located next to the University of Houston Police Department. Its purpose is to support the University’s fleet with two additional dispensers, which doubles the number of vehicles that can fill their tanks at a time.

The original fueling station is located at the General Services Building, so this second location supports the needs of authorized vehicles on the opposite side of campus. With more than 300 Fleet vehicles at UH, the second fueling station will prove vital to campus operations.

“The fueling stations avoid the need to leave campus to fuel the vehicles. They also provide a fuel reserve for campus function in times of emergency,” said Rocky Garcia, manager of Fleet Services.

F/CM played a crucial role in managing the design and construction phases, ensuring code compliance and adherence to the University’s standards.

“It was a learning experience. [We’re] really proud of it,” said Sandy Ta, who served as project manager for the last year of the project.

The project has been in development since 2018, but several factors, including supply chain issues and the pandemic, affected its progress.

Facilities/Construction Management congratulates all staff and partners who joined the process of design and construction on the completion of the second fueling station. Their efforts show a continued investment in the University’s mission to serve the campus community. In other words, this project demonstrates F/CM’s steadfast dedication to Building Futures and Maintaining Excellence.
