Hiring for Excellence: F/CM and Human Resources Host New Training for Managers

By Marilyn Leider

Facilities/Construction Management recently debuted “Hiring Excellence,” a new training intended for hiring managers. The department collaborated with the University of Houston’s Talent Acquisition team with the goal of optimizing its hiring practices.

“A Great Refresher”

Senior Recruiters Lysette Juarez, Cristian Garcia, and Alan Ortiz led the training, which was offered twice in May.
“The ‘Hiring Excellence’ training reinforced best practices throughout each stage of the hiring process, from contacting candidates to confirm their interest, to conducting interviews, and managing the steps that follow once a hiring manager selects a candidate,” said Erica Vazquez, attendee and assistant director of Facilities Customer Relations & Communications.

Vazquez also noted that the training was a “great refresher” on navigating the PageUp portal, the University’s recruitment and application system.

“The training provided valuable tools and insights that will help us make more effective hiring decisions and build stronger teams at the University of Houston,” said Gregory Hanley, a senior customer relations manager with FCRC.

Training for the Future

The Hiring Excellence training will prove to be essential for managers, helping to ensure a smooth and consistent hiring process across the department as Facilities/Construction Management works to fill its vacancies.
