Zoonash Arshad, Student Relations and Communications Director

I am a PhD candidate in Geophysics at the University of Houston. My research focuses on probabilistic imaging of Platinum Group Element (PGE) mineral systems through structural modeling, geophysical inversion, and machine learning in the Stillwater Complex. Prior to joining UH, I worked as an Assistant Geophysicist at the Geological Survey of Pakistan, contributing to groundwater investigations, gravity and magnetic data processing/modeling, and seismic hazard assessment.

I currently serve as the Student Relations and Communications Director of the Graduate and Professional Student Association (GPSA). I am actively involved in student leadership and professional organizations, serving as secretary (2025-26) of the SEG Wavelet Student Chapter and as social media manager (2026-27). I have served in multiple roles within the Earth and Atmospheric Sciences Student Body Committee, including Geophysics Representative, Treasurer, and Social Media Manager. I was honored to receive the 2026 Outstanding Graduate Work in Geophysics Award and the SEG Scholarship, recognitions that reflect my dedication to both academic excellence and service to the geoscience community.

I am committed to fostering communication, engagement, and collaboration among graduate and professional students. Through my role in GPSA, I will ensure that students are informed about opportunities, resources, and initiatives that enhance their academic and professional experience at UH.
