Charnae Brown, Administrative Affairs Director
Greetings, I am a 2026 Masters of Social Work graduate and a PhD candidate in Social Work at the Graduate College of Social Work. My research focus includes juvenile justice, youth incarceration, recidivism among Black and Brown youth, and related policy advocacy efforts aimed at advancing equitable systemic reform. I currently work in the nonprofit sector, focusing on housing instability affecting Houstonians and underserved communities experiencing socioeconomic barriers and displacement.
I serve as a member of African/Black Social Workers and as the Administrative Affairs Director for GPSA. As the Administrative Affairs Director, I strive to ensure our organization effectively meets the needs of its members in an organized and professional manner. I also seek to encourage collaboration, strengthen professional networks, and develop strategic opportunities for growth, engagement, and connectivity among The University of Houston students, alumni, faculty, and broader community stakeholders.
