The University of Houston’s Innov8 Hub Startup Pitch Day returns May 26, bringing together a new cohort of founders ready to spotlight breakthrough ideas. After months of mentorship, coaching and commercialization support at the UH Technology Bridge, startup entrepreneurs are using the weeks leading up to the finale to hone presentations showcasing their ideas. Startup Pitch Day has become an eagerly awaited event in Houston’s broader innovation ecosystem, reflecting the growing role the accelerator program plays in helping researchers and innovators translate ideas into market-ready companies.
“Seeing this Innov8 Hub cohort transform bold ideas into real-world impact has been truly inspiring. We’re proud to support these founders on their innovation journey at the University of Houston Technology Bridge,” said Tanu Chatterji, director of startup development and the UH Tech Bridge Incubator.
The latest cohort reflects the wide range of innovation emerging from UH and the broader Houston community. Among the companies presenting is Awarely, founded by Stacey Gorniak. Awarely is advancing preventative care for women’s health through the development of non-invasive wearable devices designed for quick and effective breast health monitoring. Awarely’s technology helps improve access to early screening and long-term monitoring.
Health innovation continues with OPTiVAST, founded by Iordanis Kesisoglou, Michael Nikolaou and Chaskey Barry. Their platform uses patient-specific data from hospital instruments to rapidly design personalized therapies for severe bacterial infections within hours of detection. This helps clinicians respond faster to drug-resistant pathogens and sepsis risks, improving survival and leading to shorter hospital stays for patients.
Building on advances in biotechnology research, Advreag, founded by Chengzhi Cai and Guoting Qin, is developing advanced reagents and workflows that help researchers better study protein structures and interactions. Their technology aims to improve the speed, precision and reproducibility of mass spectrometry analysis for biological research.
3D modeling and simulation are also strongly represented in this year’s pitches. Meshletes, founded by Guoning Chen and Muhammad Naeem Akram, is tackling the time-consuming challenge of manually repairing broken 3D geometry-a major challenge in simulation workflows. Its cloud-based meshing engine converts raw 3D models into simulation-ready meshes in minutes, helping engineers save time and reduce computational costs.
Focus on scalable technology solutions in the energy transition space is RETTAB Technology, founded by Zhifeng Ren and Mingchu Zou. They are developing sustainable recycling solutions for lithium iron phosphate batteries by recovering high-value materials from end-of-life batteries for new battery production. The company aims to support the growing energy storage and electric vehicle markets by reducing waste, strengthening domestic material supply chains, and making battery recycling more profitable, scalable, and environmentally responsible.
Energy innovation is also at the heart of CircuWell Energy, founded by Chinedu Junior Okere and Dimitrios Georgios Hatzignatiou. The startup uses proprietary algorithms to help oil and gas operators improve produced water management, reduce operational costs and identify opportunities for reuse and resource recovery. The company aims to transform produced water from a liability into a value stream, thereby making field operations across the energy sector more efficient, sustainable, and economically optimized.
Similarly focused on improving upstream operations is Petro Research and Analysis Corp, founded by Mohamed Adel Gabry, Mohamed Y. Soliman and Amr Ramadan. Using advanced signal processing, the company transforms existing wellsite pressure, vibration and acoustic data into actionable engineering insights for oil and gas producers. Its platform helps operators better understand subsurface activity, fracture behavior and inter-well connectivity without requiring new field equipment.
Rounding out the cohort is founder Tobiloba Ajibola of Duhat Creative Minds with its flagship product, Vistacks. The platform brings together visitor management, workforce coordination, space booking and incident tracking into a unified operational system designed to help organizations improve efficiency, security and decision-making across modern workplaces. By bridging fragmented systems, Vistacks helps organizations to interact with technology more efficiently, leading to better user experience.
Over three months, Innov8 Hub’s accelerator equips technical founders with the business mindset needed to turn promising ideas into marketable, commercial ventures. Through hands-on programming, participants sharpen their value propositions and prepare for the realities of commercialization by deepening their understanding of target markets. Startup Pitch Day marks the culmination of that journey, offering founders a valuable opportunity to showcase their ventures and connect with potential partners, mentors, and the broader innovation community. On May 26, the newest cohort will take the stage, focused on expanding the visibility and relationships that can help propel their innovations to market.
