The University of Houston continues to earn recognition among the nation’s top colleges and universities, earning a place in the newest edition of The Princeton Review’s “The Best 392 Colleges.”

UH also earned Top 50 rankings in the “Best Value Colleges” and “Colleges That Create Futures” lists, reinforcing the University’s growing reputation for strong academics, affordability and preparing graduates for success beyond the classroom — all key factors that matter most to students and families when choosing a university.

"We are delighted to name the University of Houston one of our ‘Best Colleges for 2027’ and we recommend it to students searching for their best-fit college,” said Rob Franek, The Princeton Review's editor-in-chief. "UH has outstanding academic programs, and we also took into account the candid feedback we received about it from its very own customers — its enrolled students."

The Princeton Review chose the 392 colleges — representing just 14% of all four-year colleges in the U.S. - based on surveys of 2,000 college administrators about their school's academic offerings.

“The Princeton Review’s latest rankings once again demonstrate that UH is a higher education dynamo that fosters innovation and supports student success. It is especially validating to be acknowledged as one of the top institutions creating futures for students,” said Diane Z. Chase, senior vice president for academic affairs and provost at UH. “At UH, we strive to provide academic experiences that prepare our Coogs for rewarding careers and to serve communities around the globe. Recognition from both our peers and The Princeton Review reflects why the University continues to be a viable destination for students from all parts of Texas and beyond.”

Student feedback also played a role in the Princeton Review’s rankings, offering a firsthand look at the UH academic experience and campus life.

What Students Are Saying

“Overall, the academic experience at the University of Houston is marked by quality instruction and a strong focus on preparing students for success beyond the classroom.”

“With UH’s vast alumni network and its location in the corporate center of Houston, the research and academic opportunities are immense.”

“You feel like your degree is appreciating in value over time along with the school itself.”

Continuing the Momentum

The Princeton Review recognition adds to a growing list of national accolades for UH as it builds on its academic and research momentum.

UH ranked No. 67 among public universities nationwide and No. 4 among public universities in Texas, according to the 2027 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings, continuing its rise toward its goal of becoming a Top 50 public university. UH also ranked among the nation’s Top 50 universities for social mobility and in the Top 100 for innovation, value and support for veterans.

Earlier this year, UH ranked No. 52 among public research universities nationwide in the U.S. News’ Best Global Universities rankings and placed 19 programs in the Top 50 of its Best Graduate Schools rankings, including four in the Top 10.
