Graduate Programs

The Department of Computer Science at the University of Houston was founded in 1967 and is considered one of the first established in the country. The department is housed in the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. We enroll roughly 300 graduate students, including about 100 Ph.D. students, each academic year.

Our core research areas include: artificial intelligence, computing and software systems, computational and data sciences, cyber-physical systems, computing education, security, theory and algorithms, and visual computing.

Graduate academic programs offered include: M.S. (thesis and non-thesis), and Ph.D.
