Departmental Meet and Greet Information Page

What is the Meet and Greet?: Although this event is primarily for all Undergraduate Math Majors and faculty, Math Graduate students and staff are welcome to attend. The purpose of this social is to create a pleasant and comfortable environment among faculty and students as well as provide special career opportunities for our students. The event can be for recruitment or be an informal social/mixer.

If we have speakers presenting at our event, they may discuss the following topics:

  • Which steps were taken to acquire their current positions?
  • What was their process like and what was involved in their preparation to find a position?
  • Which opportunities did they take advantage of that proved invaluable during the application process.
  • Perspectives on “life beyond the degree”.

For some of our speakers, this is a recruitment opportunity as they may promote their company, accept resumes, and speak about the importance of "soft skills" in the workforce. This event supports a "professional networking platform" as 16 corporations and organizations have presented at our information sessions.

If time allows, we may additionally recognize our departmental scholarship recipients, PME new members, and other departmental student organizations.
