As per the Gessner College of Nursing Undergraduate Policy U208, any active University of Houston student with at least one semester of course completion at UH is eligible to apply to the Traditional BSN. As such, the Gessner College of Nursing does not have a change of major process for students at UH who want to change their major to Pre-Nursing. Pre-Nursing is not a degree, but a placeholder until students are accepted into the Traditional BSN. Students not admitted to the Gessner College of Nursing Traditional BSN track will be advised to an alternate career pathway or may reapply in a subsequent semester.

Non-Pre-Nursing students are advised to stay in their current major but follow the Traditional BSN Track Recommended Course Pathway in order to complete all required coursework to apply.

The Traditional BSN Track is open to all UH students, regardless of major, who complete all requirements.
