Delta Delta Secures 6th Chapter of the Year, Three More Awards

Showing Highlights Continued Excellence at Province Meeting

Kappa Psi Delta Delta and Southwest Province Regional Meeting

UH College of Pharmacy's Delta Delta Chapter of the Kappa Psi (Kψ) Pharmaceutical Fraternity Inc. swept all four Collegiate Chapter award categories – including its sixth consecutive Chapter of the Year title – at the organization's Southwest Province regional meeting April 8-9 in Houston.

Among the activities for which Delta Delta received the top chapter title were its success in receiving a $1,000 service grant to collect and assemble care packages of essential hygiene and personal protection equipment items for Houston's homeless community; raising more than $1,500 for the nonprofit organization Read Out and Read; and hosting a variety of alumni-student social activities, such as a barbecue and casino night, to encourage engagement and interaction.

In addition to top title, Delta Delta earned the following awards:

  • The "99 Hands Award" for its community outreach initiatives, including members volunteering to provide immunizations, wellness screenings and health information translation services at a primary care prevention health fair at Vietnam Buddhist Center in Sugar Land;
  • "Chapter Report of the Year Award" for most professional and creative presentation; and
  • The "Man Mile Award" for the most members (34 Delta Delta members out of 71 total attendees from 14 chapters) at the meeting.

In individual honors, chapter members Julie Lu and Josiah Willingham were installed as the province's Grand Council Convention Delegate and Webmaster, respectively.
