Part of the scholarship golf tournament's success relies on the work done by student volunteers before and during the event, from recruiting golfers, sponsors and in-kind gift donors to interacting with participants on the day of the event.

Nearly 60 alumni and friends of the University of Houston College of Pharmacy teed up for student scholarships at the 2023 UHCOP Golf Classic June 2 at the Golf Club of Houston in Humble.

Launched in 1979 under the leadership of UHCOP faculty member Louis Williams and alumnus/former faculty member Larry McClaugherty, the UHCOP tournament is believed to be one of the longest running scholarship golf events in Houston. Although the total funds raised at this year's events are not yet finalized, committee members expect that several thousand dollars in student scholarships will provided as a result of player registrations and tournament sponorships.
