The University of Houston College of Pharmacy's Mading Society of benefactors welcomed two new members — alumna Bonnie Labdi, Pharm.D. ('02), BCOP, and husband Imad Labdi — into its ranks at the 2026 Mading Society Induction and Dinner Sept. 18 in Houston.
Following graduating with her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from UHCOP, Bonnie completed PGY1 pharmacy practice and PGY2 hematology/oncology residency programs at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple, Texas.
Currently serving as senior medical science liaison with Ideaya Biosciences, her career includes clinical pharmacy roles with several leading institutions in the greater Houston area including Memorial Hermann Health System, Houston Methodist Hospital, the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, and Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, where she served as clinical manager.
Her most recent clinical position was at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Fla. She became board-certified in oncology pharmacy practice in 2017. She also has served in leadership roles at MJH Life Sciences and the Craneware Group.
She’s also held academic roles at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston and Schwartz College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at Long Island University as well as a preceptor for many residents and students throughout her long clinical career.
Bonnie has presented her work at national and international conferences as well as authored or coauthored research articles in such peer-reviewed publications as the Journal of Thoracic Oncology, the American Journal of Managed Care Pharmacy, and the Journal of Oncology Pharmacy Practice. She also coauthored a textbook chapter and has served as a reviewer for several medical publications.
Bonnie truly enjoys helping others and giving back to the community. During her undergraduate years at UH, she was inducted into Alpha Phi Omega, a national service fraternity. Bonnie is also a life member of the UH Alumni Association. She has helped organize and emcee charitable events, and in 2015, she volunteered her time to travel to Hyderabad, India, and speak at an educational conference for medical students and pharmacy students.
Imad recently retired from a distinguished career as a senior police officer with the Houston Police Department, where he proudly served the community for 41 years. During his career, Imad received several commendations and most recently received the Award of Excellence from the Patrol Region 2 Command. He was also recognized for his service to the community by the Arab and Muslim Community of Houston.
He has participated in annual charity events for the Houston Police Foundation, which raises money to buy specialized safety equipment for police officers.
The Labdis have provided support for the UHCOP Student Scholarship Fund, as well as the Frank Bove Endowed Scholarship Fund.
The society was established in 1997 in memory of the college's first major benefactors, Cora and Reagan Webb Mading, whose estate bequeathed $20,000 to the fledgling college upon his passing on 1953. During his life, Webb Mading was a prominent community pharmacy owner who built one of the largest chains of independent pharmacies in the greater Houston region and was known for insisting that children who came into his pharmacies be treated as respectfully as the adults.
Membership in the society is conferred to individuals and couples with lifetime giving of $10,000 or more, and foundations and organizations with cumulative gifts of $25,000 or more. In addition, "Cougar Red Coat" honors are bestowed on Mading Society members whose cumulative giving reaches $100,000.
