Freshman Admissions Appeals

The University of Houston carefully considers all applicants for admission based on the required information provided. Applicants who are not admitted may be eligible for reconsideration in the following ways.

Freshmen Applicants

  • Automatic Reconsideration. You may be eligible for automatic reconsideration if you have improved ACT or SAT scores, English Proficiency scores (international applicants), class rank or high school GPA. Submit your updated academic information and we will automatically reconsider you. No appeal or additional steps are required. See steps to submit academic information.
  • Appeal. An appeal is appropriate for applicants with extenuating circumstances that should be considered in the application process. This is a comprehensive and holistic review process.
    1. The appeal form will be available starting Jan. 6, 2025. Until then, consider the automatic reconsideration option.
    2. Appeal applicants must provide a short statement (500 words or less). What new information or changes in circumstances should be considered as part of your admissions evaluation?

Transfer Applicants

  • Automatic Reconsideration. You may be eligible for automatic reconsideration if you have an updated college transcript with improved coursework. Submit your updated academic information and we will automatically reconsider you. No appeal or additional steps are required. See transcript submission guidelines.
