Dr. Kelly Y. Hopkins Awarded Two Fellowships to Historical Societies in Kentucky

The Department of History congratulates Assistant Professor of History Dr. Kelly Y. Hopkins, who has been honored with a President’s Circle Award for 2026 and two external summer research fellowships. Dr. Hopkins was awarded a research fellowship at the Filson Historical Society in Louisville, Kentucky. The Filson Institute is a one-week immersive research opportunity in June with a cohort of five fellows investigating topics related to the history and culture of Kentucky and the Ohio Valley. The cohort will be encouraged to contribute an article to a thematic issue of Ohio Valley History for late 2027 publication. Dr. Hopkins also earned a four-week research fellowship from the Kentucky Historical Society. Both research fellowships will support her next book project, “Displacement and Renewal: Multinational Indigenous Communities and Resistance in the Ohio River Valley, 1720-1815.”
