Prospective Students

The MIND lab is not accepting applications for Fall 2026 admissions as part of the Clinical Neuropsychology major area of study in UH’s Clinical Psychology Ph.D. Program. Applications from prospective doctoral students whose interests strongly align with those of the MIND lab are desired. Interested individuals may review recent publications to gain a sense of the work conducted in the MIND lab. Applicants to the MIND lab are reviewed holistically with the objective to identify candidates that demonstrate optimal fit. Applications are typically due by December 1, see /class/psychology/clinical-psych/admissions/.
Students in the MIND lab are vital team members. They are involved in all aspect of research, including idea conceptualization, literature review, data collection, data analyses, interpretation and dissemination (scientific and community audiences). Involvement is based upon lab needs/opportunities, student interest/training needs, and goals discussed with Dr. Williams. In addition to research, MIND lab students engage in teaching and research mentorship with support from Dr. Williams. He advocates for lab students to participate in service activities and relevant organizations, which accelerates development of a professional identity and position within the field. We hold regular lab meetings for students to forge connection and collaboration, discuss projects, sharpen skills, share resources and creative ideas, work together, and learn from each other. We leverage a shared lab agenda each academic year to amplify student voices and promote awareness of relevant activities.
Dr. Williams participated in a KnowNeuropsychology panel discussion on Career Pathways in Neuropsychology. It may be helpful to review this video to learn about his career trajectory and gain broad tips about neuropsychology from graduate school applications through job attainment. Board-certified neuropsychologists, Dr. Laura Grande and Dr. Suzanne Penna, were on the panel to represent perspectives from a veterans affairs medical center and an academic medical center, respectively. This is an excellent panel discussion, and it addresses common questions for students interested in neuropsychology training and careers.
