Tiffany Davis
Tiffany J. Davis, PhD (she/her) is Associate Dean for Student Belonging and Success and Clinical Professor of Higher Education Leadership and Policy Studies within the College of Education. She brings over 20 years of experience working in colleges and universities and is passionate about mentoring students, building inclusive communities, and helping everyone feel like they belong. She serves as the Faculty in Residence (FIR) for University Lofts and Bayou Oaks.
Dr. Davis earned her bachelor’s degree in Human Ecology from the University of Tennessee, where she served as a Resident Advisor for three years. Her love for student support and leadership development led her to graduate school at Bowling Green State University, where she earned a master’s degree in College Student Personnel. While at BGSU, she coordinated the SMART Program, a peer mentoring initiative for Students of Color, and served as the inaugural director of the McNair Scholars Program, supporting first-generation, low-income students in undergraduate research. She also enjoyed her time as a live-in staff member for a sorority house. She later earned her Ph.D. in Counseling and Student Personnel Services from the University of Georgia.
As Associate Dean for Student Belonging and Success in the College of Education, Dr. Davis works to ensure students feel supported, included, and empowered to thrive where she oversees undergrad and graduate student advising, teacher certification, and assessment and evaluation within the College. She teaches and researches topics such as college access, student affairs, diversity and inclusion, and the professional development of higher education practitioners. She’s also published about urban-serving institutions, supervision, intercollegiate athletics, self-care, undergraduate research, and the experiences of minoritized faculty.
Outside of work, Dr. Davis enjoys reading, musical theatre, traveling, and finding joy in everyday moments, especially when they happen near oceans and pools. A fun fact is that she’s a former triathlete and has nearly completed her goal of visiting all 50 U.S. states—just one more to go!
