Tatiana Vintu Designs Scenic World for Narnia the Musical at A.D. Players at The George

The School of Theatre & Dance at the University of Houston is proud to announce that Associate Professor Tatiana Vintu has been invited to serve as the Scenic Designer for the upcoming production of Narnia The Musical at A.D. Players at The George, running from November 19 through December 23, 2025.

Based on C.S. Lewis’s timeless novel The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, this family-friendly musical follows the journey of four children who discover a magical world beyond the wardrobe—where winter reigns, mythical creatures roam, and the battle between good and evil unfolds in breathtaking theatricality.

Vintu’s scenic design concept, titled “From Wardrobe to Wonderland: A Scenic Journey Through Narnia,” brings this iconic story to life through a rich visual progression. Beginning in the grounded realism of 1940s England, the production transitions into a layered, symbolic world inspired by fairytale illustrations, stained glass, flowing forests, and the elegance of Art Nouveau and Deco design. Her work supports the emotional arc of the story—from innocence and wonder to sacrifice and renewal—through detailed textures, dramatic silhouettes, and light-responsive materials.

“This design is about transformation—both visual and emotional,” says Vintu. “Each scenic element invites the audience to cross the threshold with the characters and step into a world where magic, memory, and myth coexist.”

Professor Vintu brings to the production her international expertise in scenography and performance design, with recent curatorial leadership at the Prague Quadrennial and ongoing research into immersive digital environments. Her work at A.D. Players continues her commitment to integrating historical reference, theatrical poetry, and practical ingenuity on stage.

Narnia The Musical runs November 19–December 23, 2025, at A.D. Players at The George.
