UH and The Cullen Trust Partner to Expand Access to Health Care Through New Third Ward Wellness Hub

The University of Houston Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine has received funding from The Cullen Trust for Health Care to establish the 3rd Ward Place of Wellness, a community-driven initiative that will expand access to primary and mental health services in Houston’s historic Third Ward neighborhood.

Diehl Family Establishes $2.1 Million Gift for Scholarships at UH’s Fertitta College of Medicine

The University of Houston’s Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine has received a planned estate gift commitment estimated at $2.1 million to establish a scholarship endowment, expanding access to medical education and strengthening the pipeline of physicians who will serve communities across Texas and beyond.

2025 White Coat Ceremony

July 26 at 10:00 A.M., the Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine hosts the 2025 White Coat Ceremony and welcomes the incoming Class of 2029 as they don their white coats, a symbol of their position as medical students. They will take the stage and pledge their oaths at the outset of their incredible journey through post graduate studies. The entire College is filled with pride and excitement for the Class of 2029 on this momentous occasion. View more >>

Ghana Study Abroad Opportunity

Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine in partnership with Humana Institute is planning a study abroad trip to Accra, Ghana. From 7/5/2025 to 7/13/2025, College of Medicine students will collaborate with University of Ghana Medical School (UGMS) students and faculty to provide patient care in underserved communities. This experience will foster cross-cultural medical learning, enhance clinical skills in resource-limited settings, and strengthen partnerships between Fertitta College of Medicine and UGMS. Students will work alongside local health care professionals to address community health needs while gaining valuable insights into global health challenges and solutions.
