Student Organizations
UH AAPG Wildcatters
The American Association of Petroleum Geologists is the world’s largest geological group and strives for the advancement in geological technology and research while providing a wide variety of professional opportunities such as conferences, publications, and educational services. The University of Houston’s AAPG Student Chapter bridges the gap between professionals and UH geoscience students interested in careers in oil and gas exploration. UH AAPG hosts monthly meetings, guest lecturers from academia and industry, field trips, and other social activities that are geared toward promoting student involvement in petroleum geology. Meetings are held on campus and are open to students, faculty, and industry professionals.

UH EAGE
The University of Houston EAGE Student Chapter is the first chapter of the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE) established in the United States, reflecting both EAGE's expanding global presence and Houston's role in geoscience and energy research. The chapter aims to build an inclusive, internationally connected community that promotes technical learning, interdisciplinary collaboration, and professional development for MSc and PhD students in geology and geophysics. Members engage in a wide range of research areas, including seismic imaging, machine learning applications, structural geology and tectonics, subsurface fluid flow, basin analysis, and reservoir characterization, encouraging the integration of geological and geophysical approaches. Through technical talks, workshops, webinars, and career development events, the chapter provides hands-on learning opportunities and exposure to real-world geoscience applications, while strengthening connections between academia and industry.
