Digital Signage

University departments or divisions may request to display event and other information relevant to NSM students on our network of six digital signage displays. Please refer to the guidelines below when submitting an image.

NSM Digital Signage Guidelines

Who Can Submit a Request?

According to UH policy, only UH departments, defined as a division of a University that focuses on a specific academic discipline or function of the University, may submit requests to post information on the UH digital signage network. Student organizations are not included in this group.

Dimensions: 1920 × 1080 Pixels

Your image should be 1920 by 1080 pixels (like an HDTV) and formatted to use all available space.

Image
Use all available space; do not distort/stretch your image or expand a letter-/poster-size image to 1920 × 1080 pixels.

File Type: JPG or PNG

Your image file(s) should be high-quality JPG or PNG. While PowerPoint can be a useful layout tool, DO NOT submit a PowerPoint file — please export to JPG or PNG.

Image Approval & Submission

UH Branding Approval

All digital signage images require UH Branding approval before submission to the digital signage network. Submit your image(s) through the UH Brand Review Submission form. Refer to the UH Brand Style Guide and UH Brand Logos & Marks pages for reference. Once your image(s) is approved, note your approval ID and proceed.

Final Submission

Send your image(s) and their accompanying UH Branding approval ID to Chris Watts at cwatts@central.uh.edu for deployment to our digital signage network. Images submitted without a UH Branding approval ID will not be displayed.

Things to Keep in Mind

Viewing Distance: 15+ Feet

The average viewing distance for our digital signage displays is 15 feet or more. Your images should be readable (and QR codes scannable) from a distance.

Display Time: 15 Seconds

Images are displayed on rotation for 15 seconds each. Like a billboard, details should be limited, and your image should be glanceable. Include org name/logo, event name, date, location, and a brief description. Refer viewers to a website (via QR code or short URL) for more information.

QR Codes

QR codes are a great way to direct viewers to a website for more information, such as registration, speaker bio, etc. If you employ a QR code, please be sure the associated URL is also included — at least the beginning portion — below or near the QR code. This is an important security measure, as QR codes can be spoofed. Displaying the URL helps ensure users know where the code will direct them before scanning.
