Maria (Allyson) Asuncion Miralles Hije
Maria (Allyson) Asuncion Miralles Hije is an assistant professor at the University of the Philippines, specializing in Hotel, Restaurant, and Institution Management. She holds both a master's and a bachelor's degree in the same field from the university and previously worked at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Manila. Allyson, as friends and colleagues call her, teaches courses on Procurement Management, Cost Control and Analysis, Events Management, and Macro and Micro Perspectives in Hospitality Management. She conducted research on Kapampangan tamales and published a paper titled “Tamales-making in Sasmuan: Family Livelihood to Community Tradition.” This research earned her recognition, as she received the Best Paper Award in the Thesis-in-Progress category at the 2021 Asia Pacific Tourism Association conference. For her doctoral studies, she intends to expand her research to include technology applications in luxury hotels and strategic management within the hospitality industry.
