Career Highlights

Ashley Shepherd began her career in higher education as a student assistant in the career services department at her alma mater, Prairie View A&M University, where she discovered her passion for student success and career readiness.

With more than 10 years of experience in career services, Ashley has built her career around creating meaningful opportunities that bridge academic learning with professional growth. Since joining Hilton College in 2020 as the Career Counselor and Internship Coordinator, she taught the Hospitality Internship course, Beverage Management & Marketing Internship course, and the Management and Training Work Experience Practicum courses, while expanding career development initiatives through innovative programming, strategic employer partnerships, and experiential learning opportunities.

Now serving as the Director of Career Development, Ashley leads the college’s efforts in student career preparation, internship and career readiness, and employer engagement. She oversees strategic career initiatives, cultivates strong relationships with hospitality industry partners, and develops programs that support students’ transition from the classroom to the workforce. In addition to her leadership role, she instructs the Professional Development course, helping students build the skills, confidence, and professional readiness needed for career success.

Ashley remains deeply committed to empowering students through mentorship, professional development, and real-world learning experiences, while strengthening the college’s reputation as a leader in hospitality education and career outcomes.
