Career Highlights
Madeleine Garcia is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Information
Systems Auditor (CISA) with more than 10 years of experience spanning public accounting,
IT audit and risk, financial systems, and operational strategy. Throughout her career,
she has led finance and technology initiatives across professional services, hospitality,
sports and entertainment, and consumer industries.
Before joining the faculty at the University of Houston, Madeleine held leadership
roles focused on financial operations, accounting systems, process improvement, and
business transformation. Her experience includes public accounting with PricewaterhouseCoopers
(PwC) as well as leadership positions supporting complex organizations through financial
reporting, internal controls, technology modernization, and strategic decision-making.
Madeleine previously taught undergraduate and graduate accounting courses at the University of Colorado Boulder. She is passionate about helping students connect accounting concepts to real-world business decisions through practical application, case-based learning, and interactive classroom discussion.
