National Center and Team Science Planning Award
This program is designed to provide support for a UH-led team preparing a large multi-investigator proposal for a national center or interdisciplinary project. A Letter of Intent is required two weeks before submission.

Proposal submissions are will be accepted on a rolling basis through August 31, 2027 or until funds are exhausted. Letters of intent are required no later than two weeks prior to submitting your planning grant proposal.
If assistance from the DOR proposal team is needed, email preaward@central.uh.edu at least five business days before the deadline.
Eligibility
UH faculty-led research teams targeting large multi-investigator or national center grants are eligible if they secure prior approval from the Vice President for Research and submit a Letter of Intent at least two weeks before applying.
Eligibility criteria below are a summary. Review the full requirements in the 2026-2027 Guidelines before applying.
Eligible
Teams of researchers led by a UH faculty member.
Teams preparing a submission for a targeted funding opportunity for national centers or large interdisciplinary/multi-investigator grants.
Submissions where the targeted funding deadline is less than 6 months away are accepted, provided an additional feasibility justification is included.
Applicants who have confirmed eligibility with the Vice President for Research prior to applying.
Not Eligible
Proposals submitted without a Letter of Intent at least 2 weeks prior.
Single-investigator projects or proposals not targeting large multi-investigator/national center grants.
Declined proposals resubmitted earlier than 3 months from the initial submission date.
Resubmissions deemed substantially similar to a previously declined proposal without required time elapsed or modifications.
