Recognized for projects that address real-world challenges through innovation, sustainability, and cultural awareness, these works reflect the College’s commitment to design as a socially responsive and forward-thinking practice.
Rising Designers, Changing Landscapes
This spring, METROPOLIS Magazine named two students from the University of Houston Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture and Design to its Future100 list: fifth-year architecture students Elvia Karina Delgado and Kimhour Lor. Their recognition reflects both the strength of their individual design work and the broader commitment at the Hines College to addressing environmental and social challenges through architecture.
“Superstructure Ecology” Earns International Design Award Recognition
"Superstructure Ecology," a speculative research project by plodes® studio led by Roya Plauché, Hines College interim director of environmental design, received an Honorable Mention at the International Design Awards in Bangkok. Selected from entries representing more than 70 countries, the project was recognized for reimagining architecture as ecological infrastructure rather than a static object.
