Undergraduate Programs

Four UH College of Education faculty and alumnae who earned statewide honors from the Texas Council of Teachers of English Language Arts in 2026. Together, the recipients represent the College’s reach across literacy education — from teaching high school students and supporting teachers across a district to preparing future educators and literacy leaders.

Aspiring dentist Salena Kabani followed her curiosity in chemistry to become a standout researcher. "As a first-generation college student, I never imagined I would publish research and receive recognition for my work.”

Clinical Assistant Professor Hope Rigby-Wills ran a summer pilot program to help address literacy gaps among Houston-area elementary school students while giving real-world coaching to UH education students.
